Description
Please check the following prescreening criteria before donating:-
I) Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19?
-If Yes, then you are not eligible for 28 days from last day’s indications. After 28 days, you may be eligible to donate convalescent plasma, which directly supports COVID-19 victims.
ii) In the last 28 days have you had a fever, cough, or shortness of breath?
-If you have any of these signs then you not eligible to donate for 28 days from last day symptomatic.
iii) Have you been exposed to a person who has COVID-19, or is suspected of having COVID-19?
-If yes then you are not eligible for 28 days after the day of contact
Cautions if you have to take medications:-
Most of the drugs won’t deter you from donating blood. Common medications that are used to control blood pressure, birth control pills and over-the-counter medications won’t affect your eligibility. But If you’re taking antibiotics, you must complete the course before donating. For more information about other medications, contact the Blood Donation Program
Time is taken while donating:-
The whole blood donation process takes about 40 to 50 minutes.Donating plasma or platelets takes about one to two hours approximately.
Periods that you can donate repeatedly:-
You can donate whole blood at least every 56 days. To donate you must talk to our staff about our specific mandates.
People who are plasma donors may donate as repeatedly as every 28 days.
Peoples who are platelet donors may donate as continually as every eight days, and up to 24 times in a 12-month interval.
Cautions:-
As a donor of blood or plasma or platelet, you must be symptom-free from cold, flu, or fever on the day of donating.
